I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Weekend! I’m in New York working Fashion Week, and my husband is also here working so thankfully we got to spend Valentine’s day together. It has been a fun week of fashion, but it is cold and snowy/rainy here so I’m looking forward to warmer weather in Houston! Even though “Leather and Lips” is my Valentine’s date night look, this outfit could also be worn for a fun date night when you’re feeling sassy.
I found this DVF lip print top on sale on Net-A-Porter and instantly thought of Valentine’s day. It’s mostly sold out now, but I found it on sale in limited sizes at Farfetch.com (sizes are in UK so make sure to check size chart for US sizing). This blouse is pretty sheer, but since it was date night I decided to pair mine with a black bra. You can make this work appropriate by adding a black camisole for more coverage.I wanted to bring out the orange tones in this shirt so I decided to pair it with my coral colored BCBG blazer. I found a similar color and style from Maurice’s for only $39.00. I love blazers because they are a great way to add structure and make your look more polished. Blazers don’t only have to be for work. This is the perfect piece to transition from work to weekend. Pair it with a pencil skirt for work and a pair of skinny jeans and heels for the weekend. These Theory leather trousers were a big score from Rue-la-la last season. If you don’t know what Rue-la-la is you need to. It is a designer flash sale site that has new sales starting everyday at 10am. I have found so many amazing pieces at highly discounted prices. Warning: It can be addictive! I found a similar faux leather pant on sale for under $50 or these from Missguided for $60.Love this print but not sure you could wear it as a shirt? I have good news! Diane von Furstenberg also made a scarf with this print, and it is the perfect way to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Scarves are an easy way to add a pop of interest to your look. You can pair different colored separates and bring them together with the colors and print from a scarf. Last but not least, as I mentioned in last week’s post, everyone needs to have a go-to black pointed toe pump. One of my absolute favorites is the “Carra” pump by Ivanka Trump because it is made well, it is a moderate price point, and it is super comfortable. A black pump is the most versatile shoe you can wear and it can be worn year round. I’m not the only one who thinks a great pair of shoes is a necessity; from the words of the late, great Coco Chanel, “keep your heels, head, and standards high.”
