How many of you still follow the “No White After Labor Day” rule? White after Labor Day = Fashion Faux Pas, right?! Well, I’m here to tell you that we are officially breaking free of this rule and wearing white year round.
These high-waisted, wide leg pants from Salt Studio Boutique in the River Oaks Shopping Center have been a Summer staple, and I’m excited to style them for Fall. The exact pants I’m wearing are sold out, but I found a similar style from Nordstrom (this pant comes in 5 colors!!).The key to wearing white in the Fall is pairing it with darker colors and heavier textures. I paired my white pants with a black and white window-pane printed top. This print is very on trend for Fall. I found this particular top on Gilt which is a members only flash sale site that sells designer goods at a deep discount. If you are not a member yet, I strongly suggest you join (Warning: Designer duds at discount prices may lead to a shopping addiction!).
Because Gilt is a flash sale site, they often run out of a particular item very quickly. This top is no longer available, but I found a similar option called the “Check Short Sleeve Overlay Blouse” at Nordstrom. I love that this blouse has two layers. You can tuck the longer layer into a high waisted pant, and the shorter length will give the appearance of a crop top without showing any skin. One of the most important rules of wearing a wide leg pant is to wear a high heel. I love a pointed toe pump with a wide leg pant because it elongates the leg. I’ve linked a great pair of black pointed toe pumps in a previous post, and they’re on sale!
I think there is something so chic about wearing black and white and adding a pop of red. I wore very little accessories with this look but paired it with a bold lip and a statement bag. If you are someone that shy’s away from wearing color, begin slowly by bringing it in through your accessories. Rebecca Minkoff makes a poppy colored quilted bag with gold chain detail that adds the perfect pop of color to a monochromatic ensemble.
