Happy Friday and Happy 2016!! I took some time off during the holidays to focus on family time, but now I’m ready to jump back in. This outfit is all about one of my favorite colors of the season: Forest Green.
While I was initially inspired by the color in this look, I also love the feminine twist on menswear. Menswear has been a big trend this year, and I love the look of a tailored yet feminine suit. The suit I’m wearing is a few seasons ago from BCBG. Here is a great article from Elle.com if you need more menswear inspiration. My advice for suiting is to buy separates so that you can mix and match and maximize your wardrobe. Antonio Melani (sold at Dillard’s) is one of my favorite brands for suiting. It is moderately priced and they have great pieces to mix and match.
I love an ankle length pant for the office. They look great with heels or flats, and can be worn from work to weekend. White House Black Market makes some of my favorite ankle length pants called the “City Pant.” They come in several colors and are available in regular and petites. A forest green city pant similar to the one I’m wearing is currently on sale for $39.99 (*regular sizes only)!!I find many of my clients who work in business casual environments are consistently needing tops that can be worn under suiting. The one I’m wearing is from Ann Taylor Loft, and they have a variety of colors and styles.
Accessories are a great way to add interest to an outfit of mostly basics. I love leopard accessories because they are a great way to add a pop of print without being too overbearing. If you are afraid of looking too loud while wearing leopard try adding it into your wardrobe with a skinny belt (this one from Target is $16.99!), pumps, or your handbag.Another wardrobe staple is a nude pump. I fell in love with these because the gold studs made them a bit more edgy. A simple nude pump can be worn year round and with everything. I love this one from Ivanka Trump. It is the perfect nude color, a great mid height, and is super comfortable. Bonus-if you purchase and end up loving the nude, it comes in a wide variety of colors!I’m assuming that most of the blogs you have read this week have talked about New Year resolutions. I have mine, and to be honest, they are the same as last year (and probably the year before because I always end up failing): 1) Be on time and 2) work out more. I will continue to strive to meet these, but this year I have a new one: to be more in the moment. 2015 taught me that life flies by, and in 2016 I want to be present and not take the good things for granted.
